President Forum for Secular Pakistan Senator Iqbal Haider has strongly condemned the repeated barbaric killings and victimisation of Shia Muslims all over Pakistan, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Chitral, Gilgit-Baltistan, Hangu, Karachi and Balochistan as well as the continuing harassment and forced conversion of Ahmadis, Christians and Hindus. Police Head Constable Shoot dead near Kashmir Road

A head Constable of Sindh Police, Ali Mohsin, succumbed to injuries he received during a firing incident on Kashmir Road in Karachi. Mohsin was posted at Saudabad police station. According to a report by the  Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), a total of 1,725 people lost their lives to violence in the city till this August. However, the numbers this year suggest the start of another worrying trend: extortionists are increasingly following on their threats and killing people for not paying them. Ku will Launch PGD in Food Safety and Controls

Department of Food Science and Technology at the University of Karachi announces one-year postgraduate diploma in “Food Safety and Controls” from September 2012 in the department. The diploma is being announced under the European Union-funded trade related technical assistance TRTA-II programme and implemented by UNIDO. University of Karachi in collaboration with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) will initiate this Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in order to develop human resource for food sector in Pakistan. The diploma of the programme will be accredited by Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS), UK.
