KARACHI: Security plans have been formulated for the month of Muharram as pillion riding has been banned for the metropolitan city from midnight of October 20 while suggestions have been given to ban mobile services as well.
Security plans for Rangers, Police, Bomb Disposal and other Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) have been formulated for 8, 9 and 10th Muharram.
According to security plan, more than 17000 security personnel participate in Muharram duties as more than 600 processions will be taken out in Karachi.
146 processions have been declared ‘highly sensitive’ while 378 processions have been declared ‘sensitive’. Personnel dressed in plain clothing will also perform duties at the occasion. CCTV cameras have been deployed as well to monitor the Muharram processions.
