The Pakistan Medical Association (Sindh) and Sindh Doctors’ Welfare Association (SWDA) have condemned the kidnapping of Dr Nayab Gohar, a postgraduate trainee at the Baqai Medical University (BMU), who was taken captive four weeks ago. In a statement issued here on Monday, the two associations said that Dr Gohar’s kidnapping had been second such incident in a month, the other being that of Dr Faisal Iftikhar, kidnapped in Gulshan-e-Hadeed. “Dr Gohar was on his way to the BMU when he was abducted in the Gulistan-e-Johar area. Dr. Faisal Iftikhar, owner of Iftikhar Memorial Hospital, was kidnapped by unknown culprits on the way from hospital to his home in Gulshan-e-Hadeed last night. His car was found from Bhains Colony area of Karachi. According to details, when 27-year old doctor didn’t return home on usual time, his mother Dr. Tehseen Iftikhar reported to Steel Town police station suspecting kidnapping of his son. The Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Tuesday claimed to have arrested an activist of a nationalist party over the charge of committing terrorist activities in Sindh.
