As Supreme Court resumed hearing of Karachi law and order case, the Inspector General (IG) Sindh Police presented a detailed report over the incidents of target killings and extortion in the city. A larger bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry resumed hearing of Karachi law and order case today (Thursday) at Supreme Court`s Karachi Registry. A judicial bench of the apex court on Wednesday ordered the IG Sindh along with other officials to submit a report regarding the infiltration of more than 7,000 Taliban in Karachi by Thursday. The order was given during the Supreme Court’s hearing of the case regarding the implementation of its recommendations in the Karachi violence suo motu case. Heading a larger bench, Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali ordered that all unregistered cars and motorcycles in the city should be seized. Justice Jamali said that cars are seen being driven around without bearing any registration number plates. Rangers Man Injured in Blast near Chinese Consulate

A Rangers official was injured and few vehicles were damaged in a remote-controlled blast outside Chinese consulate in Karachi’s high security zone. Bomb Disposal Squad said time device was used to detonate the bomb rigged to a motorbike parked near the Chinese consulate in Karachi’s Clifton area. According to SP Clifton, a Rangers man was injured in the blast while three vehicles were damaged. Cordoning off the area, police impounded the damaged bike and collected evidences from the site. Rescue teams shifted the injured security man to hospital. Officials said ball bearings were not used in the explosion, unlike other recent blasts in the city. Sindh Police have decided to speed up the installation of trackers in all vehicles meant for operational duties to ensure monitoring of police performance and accountability. This was decided at meeting held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Inspector General of Police Syed Muhstaq Ahmed Shah at Central Police Office. Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Wasan fired DSP Clifton Nayyarul Haq after he illegally detained a PIA deputy shift station manager overnight in Karachi, Express Newsreported on Wednesday. Sources confirmed that deputy shift station manager, Arshad Ali Rind was released on Wednesday morning after being kept in the lockers overnight.
