Science College will be moving to a three-storey building behind the Lighthouse, said Sindh Madressahtul Islam University (SMIU) Vice Chancellor Dr Mohammed Ali Sheikh on Monday. 12th Convocation of the Defence Authority Degree College

The 12th Convocation of the Defence Authority Degree College for Women was held at the College Auditorium here on Sunday. Vice Chancellor, Karachi University, Prof Dr Muhammad Qaiser, presided over the convocation ceremony. As many as 215 graduates of the session 2010 and 2011 were awarded B.A, B.Sc and B.Com degrees whereas 25 masters’ degrees were also conferred on the students. Six students of MA (Economics) 2009 were also awarded degrees. The Centralised Admission Policy (CAP) on Friday permitted 30 colleges in the city to grant admissions in class XI if seats were still available for the academic year 2012-13. Universities and education boards of Sindh cancelled Wednesday’s papers in the wake of strike call given by nationalist parties against violence in Karachi. At least eleven people were killed and more than 30 wounded after unidentified gunmen opened fire at a political rally organised by Awami Tehrik (AT) and backed by several other parties in protest against proposed Mohajir province and the recent operation in Lyari. Sporadic violence erupted in the city, with more than a dozen vehicles torched in different areas, prompting the AT to announce a strike in Sindh on Wednesday. A Student was Injured in a Clash in Shipowners Government College


A student was injured in a clash between two student organisations in Shipowners Government College just a day after another was killed at Saifee College. Shipowners College is located in block R, North Nazimabad. The fight erupted between the Pakhtun Student Federation and Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba activists who took to each other with sticks and iron rods. Unidentified men opened fire and as a result 22-year-old Saad Rafiq was wounded. Police said they fought over a cricket match; IJT activists wanted to play in a ground on the premises but the PkSF activists stopped them.
