Two eyewitnesses picked out a suspected terrorist on Tuesday during an identification parade held before a judicial magistrate in the Abbas Town bomb blast case. Two men were killed and several others wounded when a bomb attached to a motorcycle went off near an Imambargah in Abbas Town within the remit of the Sachal police station on Nov 18. The suspect, Attaullah, who had been arrested by the CID, was produced in court for the identification parade in the Abbas Town blast case. The Sindh Home Department on Monday declared MA Jinnah Road of Karachi as a high security zone and banned all religious, political and welfare organizations from setting up camps.  Every possible step is being made in Karachi to maintain law and order during the holy month of Muharram. Sources close to the Home Department told that MA Jinnah Road has been declared as the most sensitive zone. They add no religious, political or welfare party will be allowed to set up rescue and relief camps during Ashura. The decision was made on the recommendation of police and paramilitary rangers force.

Blast at Imambargah Kills 2 in Karachi

At least two persons were killed and over a dozen others injured in a bomb blast at Abul Hassan Ispahani Road in Karachi on Sunday evening, police say.  The blast occurred near the main entrance of Imambargah Mustafa in Abbas Town. The death toll, it is feared, may go up as seven of those injured in the blast are in critical condition. The injured have been shifted to Patel and other hospitals. Two victims have been identified as Azhar Hasan, 38 and 25-year-old Muhammad Haider. Heavy firing erupted in Abbas Town while supply of electricity was also suspended in the area. 100 CCTV Camera for Muharram Procession

In another attempt at curbing terrorism, 100 more CCTV cameras are going to be installed in more than 25 locations from Teen Hatti Chowk to Kharadar for monitoring Muharram processions, reported on Friday. The processions set to take place on 8, 9 and 10 of Muharram will be monitored with the new cameras. Sources said that the home department of Sindh issued these directives to police and funds worth Rs50 million were issued for purchase and installation of these cameras. The installation is expected to begin within two days. Pillion Riding Banned in Karachi till 11 Muharram

The Sindh government has imposed a ban on pillion riding in Karachi and Khairpur till 11th of Muharram-ul-Harram, reported here on Friday. The ban has been imposed to avoid any untoward incident in the city during the month of Muharram. The ban is not applicable on women, children, the elderly and journalists. Earlier on Friday, Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah summoned an emergency meeting regarding law and order in the city and security measures before Muharram-ul-Haram.

The Ayyam-i-Aza, the mourning period in honour of the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), saw a peaceful end on Wednesday. Two major Chup Tazia processions were taken out in the city, the first after Fajr prayers and the second at Maghrib. The first procession, which was taken out from the Nishtar Park, departed after a majlis given by Allama Aoun Naqvi. He reminded the participants how Imam Hussain had suffered at the hands of Yazid, but still refused to bow down his head. A Commission Should be Set Up Into the Killings of Ahle Tasheeh People

A commission similar to the one investigating the Memogate case should be set up to look into the killings of Ahle Tasheeh people, said the chief of the Shia Ulema Council of Pakistan, Allama Sajid Ali Naqvi, on Saturday at a press conference. He denied that the killings were sectarian, arguing instead that some people were trying to create trouble between the sects. However, if a commission were formed, they would provide evidence which could help with the investigation. The deputy inspector general of police (traffic) has advised owners of vehicles wanting to participate in Chup Tazia processions to get stickers for their vehicles. The procession will be taken out on Feb 1 from Nishtar Park and will culminate at Hussainia Iranian in Kharadar. In a press release issued here on Saturday, the police said that the stickers would be issued between Jan 30 and Jan 31 from the office of the DIGP/traffic Karachi (traffic security branch) police headquarters, Garden.
