Three people were gunned down while a woman’s body was recovered on Thursday in Karachi. Unknown people opened fire on a car near Meena Bazaar in PIB Colony, in which two people died on the spot, while another succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. One of the deceased was identified as Ziauddin. A woman’s mutilated body was recovered from Bhains Colony. The police conducted a search operation in Baldia Town’s Abidabad area and arrested six suspects. They were moved to an undisclosed location for further investigation. While law enforcement agencies attempt to control violence and unrest in the city, the most recent spate of firing incidents took five lives in Karachi on Wednesday.  Unidentified men opened fire on and killed a man identified as Qari Muhammad Imran at a cell phone shop near Filmistan Cinema on Nishtar Road. The deceased was a muezzin at a nearby mosque. Following the incident, people burned tyres and created an uproar, resulting in halting of traffic from Teen Hatti to Lasbela. The city witnessed an unannounced strike on Saturday after six people were killed overnight in different areas of the country’s financial hub. Life once again came to a halt today, with education institutions, main markets, business areas, petrol pumps closed under fear, while the transporters also joined the chorus, making it hard for commuters to make it to their destinies.  The city observes a complete shutdown strike on Saturday, announced by traders against the extortion mafia. Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and other political parties are also supporting the strike. The traffic is scarce on roads and business centers and markets are shut. On Friday, the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) announced that the Secondary School Certificate (Class IX and X) annual examinations practical scheduled for Saturday had been postponed. A Muttahida Qaumi Movement activist was shot dead a friend of his was wounded in a gun attack in the Lea Market area on Monday evening, police said. Imran Memon, 25, son of Abdul Razzak, was sitting with his friend, Salman, outside an optician`s shop when armed men riding a motorbike attacked them, said an official at the Kharadar police station. The gunmen disappeared into the densely populated area of the old city follo-wing the attack, the official said.
