At least four people, including a father and his son, were shot dead and a 12-year-old daughter of a victim and a friend of another victim were wounded in four ‘sectarian’ attacks in different parts of the city on Friday, police said. During this week, more than half a dozen people, including a couple, belonging to the same sect have been gunned down in drive-by shootings in the metropolis. Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two ‘gang-war members’ from Pak Colony area during a raid. “They were Lyari gang-war members involved in extortion, target killings, kidnapping for ransom and other criminal activities,” SP Amir Farooqi told, adding that the suspects were captured during a raid in Pak Colony area. A watchman and a 50-year-old woman were killed while resisting attempts of armed mugging in different parts of the city on Wednesday, police said. Shahid Rizvi was driving back home with his wife, Umme Kulsoom, after visiting some relative when they were followed by a car near Jheel Park, said an official at the Ferozabad police station. KMC will Build 10 more Pedestrian Bridges in the City

The Karachi Metropolitan Corporation has decided to build 10 more pedestrian bridges at different locations in the city in the current financial year. According to KMC transport and communication department senior director Atique Baig, the places identified for construction of the pedestrian bridges include M.A. Jinnah Road, near Hamdard University Hospital; Rashid Minhas Road, near KDA Lal Flats; Iqra University; City School (PAF Chapter); Stadium Road, near Khatoon-i-Pakistan College; Korangi No5; ICI Bridge, Mauripur; Sharea Faisal, near Finance and Trade Centre, and Gulistan-i-Jauhar, opposite Darrus Sehat Hospital. Work on these pedestrian bridges would begin within a month and they would be completed in the next four to six months, he said.
