As Supreme Court resumed hearing of Karachi law and order case, the Inspector General (IG) Sindh Police presented a detailed report over the incidents of target killings and extortion in the city. A larger bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry resumed hearing of Karachi law and order case today (Thursday) at Supreme Court`s Karachi Registry. The Sindh police’s Crime Investigation Department caught three associates of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), who were supposedly involved in Abbas Town blast, during a targeted operation in Manghopir on Wed. According to the cops, the suspects, Shoaib Mehsud, Khalid Rehman Mehsud and Aurangzaib Mehsud, were arrested after the police was tipped off about their activities. SSP Fayyaz Khan informed media that a suicide jacket, two bombs, three hand grenades, a Kalashnikov, two TT pistols, a detonator, and some ball-bearings were seized from the hideout of the suspects. Two alleged terrorists, such as Naib Amir of prohibited Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), were caught from Korangi, cops said. Addressing a media meeting here on Friday, SSP Raja Umar Khatab said arms were also retrieved from the legal care of the caught terrorists. He is convinced, identified as Naqibullah and Adnan, were engaged in focus on murdered and cash extortion. They murdered four individuals, along with a constable, in Karachi, he stated.

A five kilogramme bomb of high intensity was defused near a police check post in the Khwaja Ajmer Nagri area of Karachi on Monday. The bomb was placed inside a pressure cooker and was found by a labourer working in the area. The police said that it took a long time for the Bomb Disposal Squad to defuse the bomb and the bomb would have caused major damage. The bomb also had two detonators and was expertly made, the police added. While law enforcement agencies attempt to control violence and unrest in the city, the most recent spate of firing incidents took five lives in Karachi on Wednesday.  Unidentified men opened fire on and killed a man identified as Qari Muhammad Imran at a cell phone shop near Filmistan Cinema on Nishtar Road. Violence in the Manghopir area saw yet another policeman lose his life in the line of duty, while two other members of the force were injured in a brazen attack on a patrolling unit of the law enforcers on Monday. Constable Syed Riaz Hussain was shot dead, while Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Mumtaz and another policeman was injured when gunmen emerged from bushes along the main road of Kanwari Colony and opened fire at the law enforcers who were conducting snap checking. Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Police has arrested two members belonging to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) after conducting raids in different areas of the city on Tuesday. According to SP CID Fayaz Khan, the police arrested the TTP men from Mauripur and Federal B Area. The arrested men are also involved in several incidents of target killings also. The arrested men are identified as Shah Alam Mehsud and Sadiq Mehsud. Police also recovered hand grenades, other weapons and a taxi from their custody.

At least three criminals including two operatives of banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) involved in target killings of police personnel in the city, have been arrested. According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) West Amir Farooqui, police arrested two target killers—Faisal Mehsud and Khan Muhammed alias Sajid—from Orangi Town. The two miscreants belonged to outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and are wanted in the killings of ASI Nadeem Abbasi and Constable Sajid. Sindh Home Ministry late Tuesday announced head money for wanted criminals including Aziz Jan Baluch and Baba Ladla. According to  correspondent, the ministry announced Rs.3 million head bounty for Baba Ladla, Rs.2 million for Aziz Jan and Rs.2.5 million for Zaman Mehsud of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. He said, the ministry also announced Rs.2 million head bounty for Khair Mohammed Mehsud, Rs.1.5 million for Rashid Rekha and Rs.1 million head money for Ibrahim Kachhi.
