Karachi: Ban on pillion riding imposed from midnight of October 20

KARACHI: Security plans have been formulated for the month of Muharram as pillion riding has been banned for the metropolitan city from midnight of October 20 while suggestions have been given to ban mobile services as well. Security plans for Rangers, Police, Bomb Disposal and other Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) have been formulated for 8, 9 and 10th Muharram. At least 300 security cameras installed in Karachi for Muharram processions

KARACHI: At least 300 security cameras have been installed on passages through which mourning processions will pass in connection with Muharram. At least three command and control rooms have been established to monitor the happenings all the time. Sindh Home Ministry on Thursday notified a partial ban on using motorbikes till 10th Muharram in Karachi. The order is effective from 12am tonight. According to the notification, parking of bikes within the range of one kilometer from imambargahs has also been prohibited while the provincial government has also declared more than 15 areas across the city as ‘sensitive’ during  Ashura. Blast at Imambargah Kills 2 in Karachi

At least two persons were killed and over a dozen others injured in a bomb blast at Abul Hassan Ispahani Road in Karachi on Sunday evening, police say.  The blast occurred near the main entrance of Imambargah Mustafa in Abbas Town. In another attempt at curbing terrorism, 100 more CCTV cameras are going to be installed in more than 25 locations from Teen Hatti Chowk to Kharadar for monitoring Muharram processions, reported on Friday.
